Summer is approaching and the Scouting season is ending for most groups … at least the meetings are. Many groups have decided that there’s really no need for a break over the summer and have planned activities throughout the summer months.

What has your group decided to do this summer? Kayaking? Hiking? A camping trip? Embrace the spirit of Scouting and get outdoors!

BP Week nears

Lord BPFor those who aren’t in-the-know, BP week is coming soon (February 19th - 26th). We celebrate the birthday of the creator of Scouting, Lord Robert Baden-Powell, whose birthday is February 22nd.

This year marks the 99th year of Scouting - the whole thing started with an experimental “jamboree” camp at Brownsea, England. Today more than 28 million young people in 216 countries and territories around the world, of every faith, culture and gender, are Scouts - even girls are now part of the Scouting movement!

May groups participate in community events and other activities in the public during BP Week. What will your group be doing to celebrate this year?

Check the calendar to the left, some groups have started listing their events.

There hasn’t been much in the way of traffic here on the site, mostly because we’ve been busy Scouting instead of working at the computer!

I hope to get some content contribution and ideas from leaders around the Area to make this website a destination for all.

On behalf of all Scouts and Scouters on the North Shore, we wish you and your family all the best for the hollidays and the new year.

After having a few problems with an upgrade to our previous CMS system, we’ve decided to take a much simpler route for the website.

Leaders will have information distributed shortly on how to contribute posts, photos and other content to the website.

Stay tuned while we migrate the remainder of our data to the new site!
